Richard Spring 2025 Results
September 20, 2025
Getting to run on the State cross country course is a special opportunity and our Lions did not let that opportunity go to waste today at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Nearly everyone ran season personal records and we even saw a few lifetime P.R.s today. You can check out the mile splits and read the meet synopsis below.

Girls Varsity Race - Results (Team)
The girls had to hop right off the bus and start warming up (after a quick trip to the bathroom), but the quick turnaround did not seem to affect them as everyone ran a P.R. Junior Dani Erickson and sophomore Jen Duban had great races and both of them were running together after the first mile. They were still close after the second mile, with Jen slightly ahead. Dani surged in the final mile, running ten seconds faster to finish in 21:09, with Jen just behind in 21:13. Behind Dani and Jen, last year’s Lion of the Week, freshman Madi Madsen, wasn’t too far behind Dani and Jen after the first mile (she was only seven seconds behind Dani), but faded a bit in the second mile. Madi came back strong in the final mile, though, and ran the faster final mile (7:04) of any of the girls. Senior Anya Kutkoski ran under seven minutes (6:57) for her first mile and ended up with a season P.R. of 21:41. Junior Molly Martin ended as our team’s fifth runner with splits of 7:39, 8:13, and 9:00. Finally, sophomore Rose Helderle ran her first varsity race and turned in a solid effort with splits of 8:14, 9:05, and 8:40 while finishing just under 26 minutes in 25:59.
Boys Varsity Race - Results
The boys didn’t have an official team, but the four veterans running did a great job running consistent, strong splits. Junior Simon Klein led the team and ran under 18 minutes for the first time this season with fantastic splits of 5:50, 6:09, and 5:55. Sophomore Liam Newton and junior Aiden Slehofer both ran under 20 minutes for the first time this season. Aiden led the way for the first two miles with splits of 6:14 and 6:49 to Liam’s 6:32 and 6:42, but Liam finished with a strong 6:28 final mile to end in 19:42 while Aiden finished in 19:50. Junior Lincoln Calfo had a strong first mile and was actually ahead of Liam after running 6:27, but ran slower in the second and third miles to finish in 21:44, which was still a season P.R.
Boys Freshman/Sophomore Race - Results
The freshman dynamic duo of Cayden Denhart and Blake Madsen were the only two entries for our final race of the day before we bolted back onto the bus to make it back for Homecoming. Blake ran a solid first mile of 7:01, but Cayden came out in 6:42, which was similar to his first mile last week at Joliet. The difference between this week and last week, though, is that Cayden stayed pretty consistent this week while he slowed by nearly a minute last week. Cayden ran fantastic splits this week to finish with a P.R. of 20:21. Blake slowed in the second mile, but came back with a 7:24 final mile to finish in 22:12.
Lion of the Meet
This was another week where I feel like just about anyone could have been our Lion of the Meet. Dani and Jen showed great leadership on the girls side. Simon ran an incredibly focused race and the tightest splits on the team. Aiden was the only seasoned member of the team who ran a lifetime P.R. today and Liam Newton ran his usual consistent race. However, Cayden had a breakthrough race today similar to Madi’s breakthrough race last week. Cayden ran nearly an identical first-mile time as he did at Joliet last week, but this week he figured out pacing and ended up with a massive P.R. He has only been with the team for just over a month, but he's made a huge impact. Congrats, Cayden!
