Welcome to Lisle Cross Country

Watch this space for information about the Lisle Cross Country team. Coach Derek Miller will be officially board approved as the new head cross country coach in April and is looking forward to working with the team starting this summer.
Details about summer camp and the fall season will be out soon, but for now you might want to know who will be coaching the team this upcoming season. Coach Miller lives in Naperville with his wife and four kids and teaches computer classes at Naperville Central High School.
Coach Miller ran cross country and track at Lake Park High School. He started his coaching career at Yorkville Middle School in 2008 while he was teaching at Yorkville High School. The team had under 20 runners in that first year, but eventually grew to over 70 runners every year. 2010 was the first year the Yorkville Middle School team qualified for State and the team qualified for State every year after that while Coach Miller was the head coach. Starting in 2010, at least one side of the team (boys or girls) finished in the top 10 at State and most years both sides were in the top 10. The girls won the team's first State trophy with a fourth-place finish in 2014 and both teams won trophies in 2016 with the boys finishing in third and the girls in second and only two points behind the winning team. Coach Miller stopped coaching after the 2018 season when he left Yorkville High School to teach at Naperville Central. Coach Miller took a season off from coaching in 2019, but volunteered for the girls team at Naperville Central in 2020. In 2021, Coach Miller became the assistant girls coach at Hinsdale South and saw at least one girl qualify for State individually every year he was there. Coach Miller is incredibly excited to start a new era at Lisle and replicate the success he has seen at Yorkville, Naperville Central, and Hinsdale South. See you all at camp this summer!
